Just when all XBOX 360 players were so happy with their beautiful Black Nice LookingXbox 360 Elite, all of the sudden they see them selves facing a unexpected situation. The release of the new Xbox 360 Slim, also know as Xbox 360 S. It came out with a new style, a new design and innovative features to the Xbox 360 family console. Lets get down to a quick review of this beautiful system, so we can explorer some of its amazing features. While comparing both the older system and the revised system nothing much was done, other than the good looking black finish design they did small modifications inside, but those small changes made by them represents a great change, specially for the online community that as of January 6, 2011 counts with more than 30 million Xbox Live players.

The Xbox 360 S came out with with other than a beautiful new exterior, a nice interior as well. The USB slots were extended, now you can count to have 5 amazing USB slots for all your needs, for controllers, battery charging and everything else. Another great exceptional feature was the Wireless Network CARD, which instead of been similar to the same PlayStation 3 wireless network card and its Xbox 360 Wireless network card with a Wifi 802.11a/b/g it came out with a Wifi 802.11b/g/n that “/n” in the end represent all the difference, it is way faster and more stable. Xbox Live players can now count with a supper, way more smooth connection speed, allowing their Xbox live experience to take a different route, this was sure a great change for the games worldwide, it is way faster than PlayStation’s 3 Wifi adapter. Another feature included was an auxiliary port, which helps for extra connections when needed.

After owning the latest Xbox 360 Slim software gamers worldwide were so happy until finding out about the New Xbox 360 Controller which was released on November 2010. Retailing at the ball price of $64.99. I am sure they were all skeptical at the release of a New Xbox controller. The new 360 controller came out with a very nice design totally different from the older controllers. With a beautiful monochrome and black and white colors. Just unique! it also featured a beautiful new D-pad where you could instantly turn your plus sign D-pad to a full disc while twisting with your fingers. Really nice! It was designed perfectly to work with my types of games that perform the sweeping combination. Just excellent and amazing.

Are Turned Based RPG Games Outdated?

When the Western world was introduced into RPG gaming in 1997 thanks to Final Fantasy VII, many RPG games adopted the “Active Time Battle” system.
It was still essentially a “turn-based” system, but each character had a specific amount of time to execute a certain move until it was the opposition’s turn.

From then on, many RPG games adopted this style of gameplay including the next two games in the Final Fantasy series. It wasn’t until the release of FFX that the old turn-based style was brought back thanks to popular demand.

The turn-based RPG system is liked by many RPG veterans because it involves more intricate thinking, strategy and planning. Unlike the “Active Time Battle” system where you may make a quick snap decision which may prove costly to the battle.

Detractors of this style of RPG games are gamers who were brought up playing more action-orientated video games. Final Fantasy XII went to a different approach and borrowed elements from World of Warcraft.

The gameplay changed dramatically with no random battles and gamers only controlled one character at a time. The other characters were controlled by the A.I. whose actions were determined before-hand by the player. It was a bold and novel approach which was lauded by critics, but sadly fans of the Final Fantasy series, disliked the way their favorite RPG series was heading.

Fast forward to 2010, and the long waited FFXIII made its way onto the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Needless to say, the style of gameplay changed once again but this time, the gameplay borrowed the no random encounters from FFXII along with the “Active Time Battle” system seen on the RPG games in the PSOne era.

Although the system was considered to be the best thing about the game, sadly the game itself failed to excite the veteran RPG gamer with its lack of towns and very linear style of gameplay.
